යම් රටක ජාතිකත්වය නොදරන පුද්ගයෙකු වීමේ අරමුණින් එම රටට ගමන් කිරීම සංක්‍රමණය නම් වේ.සංචාරකයන් වැනි කෙටි කාලීනව වෙනත් රටක ජීවත්වන පුද්ගලයින් සංක්‍රමණිකයන් ලෙස නොසැළකේ. එහෙත්, ඇතැම් විට කෙටි කාලීන රැකියා සඳහා විදේශගත වන පුද්ගලයන්ද සංක්‍රමණිකයන් ලෙස හැඳින්වෙයි.

2023 දී ජනගහනයෙන් 1,000 කට . සමස්තයක් වශයෙන් ජනයා රතු රටවල සිට නිල් රටවල් වලට සංක්‍රමණය වෙයි.

සංක්‍රමණයෙහි ආර්ථික බලපෑම් පිළිබඳ පර්යේෂණ මගින් පෙන්වාදෙන්නේ සංක්‍රමණය රටවල් දෙකටම (ආගමනය වූ රට සහ විගමනය වූ රට) ආර්ථිකමය වශයෙන් වාසිදායක වන බවයි. ව්‍යතිරේක කිහිපයක් හැරුනු විට බොහොමයක් පර්යේෂණ පෙන්නුම් කරන්නේ සංක්‍රමණය මගින් ස්වදේශීය ජනයාට ධනාත්මක ආර්ථික බලපෑමක් ඇති බවය. කෙසේ නමුත් නුපුහුණු කම්කරුවන් සංක්‍රමණය වීමෙන් වරප්‍රසාද නොලත් ස්වදේශීය ජනයා හට ඍණාත්මක බලපෑම් ඇත් ද යන්න පිළිබඳව පර්යේෂණ වඩාත් විපිළිසර වෙයි. අධ්‍යයනයන්ට අනුව සංක්‍රමණයට ඇති බාධා ඉවත් කිරීම මගින් ගෝලීය දළ දේශිය නිෂ්පාදිතයට විශාළ බලපෑමක් ඇති වනු ඇත. ඇස්තමේන්තු වලට අනුව සංවර්ධනය වෙමින් පවතින රටවල කම්කරුවන් 37% සිට 53% දක්වා ප්‍රමාණයක් සංවර්ධිත රටවලට සංක්‍රමණය වුවහොත් ගෝලීය දළ දේශීය නිෂ්පාදිතයට 67% සිට 147% දක්වා වර්ධනයක් අත් වනු ඇත. ඇතැම් ආර්ථික සංවර්ධනය පිළිබඳ විශේෂඥයන් තර්ක කරන්නේ සංවර්ධිත රටවල් සහ සංවර්ධනය වෙමින් පවතින රටවල් අතර ශ්‍රම සංචලනයට ඇති බාධා ඉවත් කිරීම අඩු කිරීම සඳහා ගත හැකි වඩාත්ම කාර්යක්ෂම පියවරක් වන බවයි. එමෙන්ම සංක්‍රමණය මගින් වයස්ගත ජනගහණය ඉහළ යාමෙන් සිදුවන අයහපත් ප්‍රථිඵල අඩු කරගත හැක.
